Escobar is perfect at the plate as Twins beat Rays 6-4

Eduardo Escobar went 4-for-4 at the plate to help lead the Minnesota Twins to a 6-4 win over Tampa Bay at Target Field Saturday afternoon.

Esocobar hit two singles and two doubles and Brian Dozier homered for the second straight game, as the Twins took the first two of three games in the series, according to the Associated Press.

Starter Trevor May had a better game than his last one, giving up three runs on seven hits over 6 2/3 innings. He left the game in the seventh inning after giving up a two-run homer to Tim Beckham, which tied the game at 3-3, reports.

The Twins came back in the bottom of the seventh, taking advantage of a throwing error by relief pitcher Kevin Jepsen, which loaded the bases with one out.

The Twins had stranded several runners earlier in the game, but Kurt Suzuki came through with a sacrifice fly that brought in the go-ahead run. Escobar followed with an RBI single to bring the score to 6-3. That was his fourth hit of the game.

The Rays scored their final run on a solo home run in the ninth.

Twins reliever Brian Duensing (1-0) threw just one pitch to record the win, while Glen Perkins got the save – his 13th straight, according to

The series finale is Sunday at 1:10 p.m. The Twins' Kyle Gibson will face Chris Archer.
