Escort revelations force groups to question ties to Suzy Favor Hamilton

Author:

Several groups tied to Suzy Favor Hamilton are in a quandary after the former Olympic middle-distance runner and University of Wisconsin star athlete revealed that she worked as a high-priced Las Vegas escort, the Wisconsin State Journal says in a report on the Pioneer Press website.

Hamilton, 44, made the admission in an article on The Smoking Gun website Thursday. She confirmed the story about her double-life with the Journal the same day.

Since then, groups she does promotional work for -- including UW-Madison School of Education, Foot Locker and the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon series -- are now reconsidering their relationship with the former athlete, according to the Pioneer Press.

The head of Foot Locker's Midwest regional running series, Peter Henkes, tells the Journal it is unlikely that Favor Hamilton will be allowed to work or even volunteer for them again in events involving children because cant be "that role model again."

Favor Hamilton, who is married and is a mother of a 7-year-old girl, says she charged $600 for one hour and $6,000 for a day for her escort services, and that she worked in cities including Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Chicago and Minneapolis over the past year.

The former athlete, who also does motivational speaking, lives in Madison, Wis., and runs a real estate business with her realtor/attorney husband, Mark.
