Ex-Vikings coach Bud Grant turns 86

Harry Peter "Bud" Grant, former Minnesota Vikings head coach -- current Hall of Famer -- turns 86 today.

To this day, he remains the most successful coach in Vikings history. He led the Vikings to four Super Bowls, eleven division titles, one league championship and three NFC conference championships.

Grant is getting plenty of attention online today -- including birthday wishes from his alma mater, the University of Minnesota:

We also like this commemorative Bud Grant pennant from the day he was honored at the Metrodome in 1984:

Grant, mostly-stoic on the sidelines, did blow his top on rare occasions. This is a classic example from a 1977 game when quarterback Fran Tarkenton broke his leg, and was replaced by rookie Tommy Kramer. (Bud flips his wig at about the :50 second mark):

What else is there left to say? Take it away, Casey:
