Fired Minnesota State University-Mankato football coach Todd Hoffner is taking his dispute with his former employer to cable giant ESPN, the Mankato Free Press reports.

ESPN announced Friday that Hoffner will be featured on the network's series "Outside the Lines" on Sunday at 8 p.m. central time.

Hoffner was charged with child pornography in August after workers with MSU's IT department discovered videos on Hoffner's university-issued cell phone of his children performing a skit after a bath.

Hoffner was cleared of all charges in November after Blue Earth County District Judge Krista Jass ruled that the videos were innocent child’s play.

"Outside the Lines" posted a video preview of the program on its website Friday, which focuses on the impact the case has had on Hoffner and his family. In it, Hoffner recalled the day after getting out of jail after being charged, and going to his son's football jamboree.

"You would have thought I was an ax murderer," Hoffner said, referring to people's reactions to seeing him.

According to the Free Press, an ESPN news release said Hoffner's story will be in the issue of ESPN The Magazine on newsstands May 31.

In the news release, Hoffner described his disbelief of how the video of his children could be misinterpreted.

"I couldn't believe it," Hoffner said. "I watched the videos and I'm like, come on. They're laughing; they're singing; they're playful; they're having fun. I just didn't see the magnitude of arresting somebody for that. I couldn't see it."

Earlier this month, the union that represents faculty members filed a grievance on behalf of Hoffner after he fired from the university.

Following the dismissal of the charges in his case, Hoffner was initially reassigned to an assistant athletic director position.
