Football Gophers No. 1! (In 1904)

The football Gophers have picked up another national title. According to Fox Sports North, an Oklahoma researcher dusted off some record books and determined Minnesota won the championship back in 1904 when they went 13-0.

Gophers defeat Huskies, 2-1

The No. 3-rated Gophers (18-9-1, 14-5-0) ended their Friday night losing streak at Mariucci Arena with a 2-1 victory over St. Cloud State (10-13-4, 7-9-3). Nick Bjugstad scored the game-winning goal about halfway through the second period. U of M will travel to the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud Saturday night for the second half of this home-and-home series.

Gophers ranked No. 10 in the nation

Don Lucia's Golden Gophers jumped four spots in the USA Today/USA National College Hockey rankings from No. 14 to No. 10 in the country. Minnesota is off to a 4-0 start after sweeping UMD over the weekend.
