Forget about buying Nike golf clubs, balls – they're done making them

Author:

Say goodbye to Nike golf clubs, balls and bags, the sports giant is getting out of of the business for good.

Nike is going to stop making golf equipment in order to shift its focus to leading the industry in golf footwear and apparel, according to FOX Business. Nike will also try to maintain strong partnerships with golfers.

Tiger Woods' arrival to the golf scene in the late-90s was a driving factor in getting Nike into golf, but they've seen sales slip every year since 2013, according to Golf.com.

Bloomberg says Adidas is trying to get out of the golf equipment business, too. TaylorMade and Adams brands fall under the Adidas umbrella.

CNBC notes that Callaway is the No. 1 in U.S. market share for golf clubs, while TaylorMade leads in sales of drivers and woods.
