Former Minnesota Vikings linebacker Fred McNeill dead at 63

Former Minnesota Vikings linebacker Fred McNeill has died at the age of 63.

McNeill, the Vikings 1974 first round draft pick out of UCLA, played in 167 games, starting 122 of them over 12 seasons for the Vikings from 1974-85.

Over his career with Minnesota, McNeill had 1.5 sacks intercepted seven passes and recovered 16 fumbles.

News of McNeill's death came from his teammate and roommate and best friend Matt Blair.

Since his NFL days McNeill had become an attorney and recently had battled some health problems.
