Former NDSU standout Carson Wentz is the favorite to win NFL MVP

The former standout at NDSU has put up impressive numbers this season.

Carson Wentz has led the Philadelphia Eagles to the best record in the NFC.

Not only are the Eagles the team to beat in the NFC, but Wentz is considered the favorite to win this year's MVP award, according to Behind Wentz, is Alex Smith, Tom Brady, DeShaun Watson and Russell Wilson; the odds are below.

  1. Carson Wentz +175
  2. Alex Smith +200
  3. Tom Brady +400
  4. DeShaun Watson +1,000
  5. Russell Wilson +1,200

So if you were to put down $100 on Wentz to win the award, the payout would be $175.

In six games this season, Wentz has thrown 13 touchdowns to just three interceptions, while completing nearly 61 percent of his passes. The former standout at North Dakota State University, is on pace to throw 35 touchdowns by the end of the season, to go along with 4,200 yards.

Wentz is in his second season with the Eagles after a stellar career at NDSU, where he led the Bison to two national championships.

There's no denying Wentz and Smith have had phenomenal seasons, but it's pretty surprising that the two are the frontrunners to win the award.

Of the 15 players Bovada lists, none are members of the Vikings and 12 of the said players are quarterbacks.
