Joe McConnell, the "iconic" sports broadcaster whose career spanned three decades and several locations, has died at the age of 79.
His death was confirmed by the MLB.com and the Chicago White Sox, for whom he was the radio voice during their 1983 A.L. West-winning season.
He also spent a number of years in Minnesota, where he was the commentator on Vikings games between 1971-76 and again between 1985-87.
He also covered the Twins in 1978 and 1979.
His storied career saw him broadcast three Super Bowls, as well as the NBA Championships.
