Former Wolves PG Chauncey Billups might be LeBron James' boss?

Billups would be the team's president of basketball operations.

The Cleveland Cavilers made it to their third straight NBA Finals, but on Monday they parted ways with general manager David Griffin.

So who's in line to replace him? None other than former Timberwolves point guard Chauncey Billups, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

Wojnarowski reported Cleveland will meet with Billups soon and he would take over as the franchise's president of basketball operations. Then he'd hire a general manager.

Billups interviewed for a similar position with the Atlanta Hawks last month, but Atlanta ended up going with Warriors assistant Travis Schlenk.

After retiring from the NBA in 2013, Billups has been working as a TV analyst. And later this summer, he's supposed to take part in Ice Cube's 3-on-3 basketball league, which features former NBA stars.

The former point guard played two seasons in Minnesota before signing with the Detroit Pistons, where he helped Detroit to an NBA Championship in 2004. He earned Finals MVP honors too.

If hired, Billups' biggest task will be figuring out how to keep LeBron James in Cleveland as James is set to become a free agent next year.
