Ron Gardenhire didn't look like a manager with four years of rust when he stormed out of the dugout, kicked some dirt around home plate and got ejected like he did so many times in 13 seasons managing the Twins.
Yes, Gardy got tossed in his first game managing the Detroit Tigers on Friday.
That's 74 career ejections for Gardy, the first 73 of which came with the Twins.
It happened in a wild and crazy game between Detroit and Pittsburgh. Tied 10-10 in the 10th inning, Detroit's Nicholas Castellanos was called safe on a close play at the plate in what would've given the Tigers an 11-10 walk-off win.
But the Pirates challenged the call on the field and after a 4-minute review (reviews are supposed to take 2 minutes or less) the call on the field was reversed, and Gardy went off.
Here's a look at the controversial play.
Overall, the game was crazy. Both teams scored 4 runs in the ninth inning and Pittsburgh went on to win 13-10 in 13 innings.
