There appears to be some potential substantiality to this particular piece of newsworthy gossip.
A report by Boxing247.com indicates that Floyd Mayweather has canceled a scheduled tour to Africa this week due to the fact that he allegedly signed his end of the contract to box MMA champ Connor McGregor.
The now-postponed visit included a stay in Accra, the capital city of Ghana. A statement from Accra organizers is what is getting fight fans excited:
“The Mayweather Tour has been postponed because Mayweather has signed the contract for the McGregor Fight and serious training has started.”
The report has not been confirmed or denied by the Mayweather camp.
McGregor hasn't been shy to call out Mayweather on social media in the past, and on Tuesday the Irishman voiced some competitive banter via his official Instagram account .
First, the challenge post:
Then, the trash-talk post:
McGregor has done a lot of talking for someone who would go into the fight as a massive underdog under boxing rules. Vegas doesn't care if McGregor thinks "Floyd Senior" is over the hill, the undefeated Mayweather opened as a huge favorite, coming in at -2250, with McGregor coming back at +950.
If the report out of the capital of Ghana is true and Mayweather has signed his end of the deal, the fight would just need a time and date to become official.
