Jack Nicklaus had ice in his veins on the golf course. Now he has his own line of ice cream flavors.
Nicklaus has teamed up with The Schwan Food Company, the multibillion-dollar grocer based in Marshall, Minnesota, to produce "Jack Nicklaus Ice Cream."
“It’s no secret that I love ice cream,” Nicklaus, golf's all-time major champion, said in a statement. “Needless to say, I have never had so much fun in the research and development of a product. The team at Schwan has a world-class product development center. Together, we have created a variety of flavors—all with real ingredients—for a quality, premium ice cream at a value price.”
The $1.99 pints include: Warm Spiced Butter Pecan, Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl, Salted Caramel Toffee, Strawberry Lemonade, Triple Chocolate, Coffee and Donuts, and Homemade Vanilla.
The ice cream will only be available at select Winn Dixie, Bi-Lo and Kroger stores, none of which are in Minnesota.
"At this point, the ice cream line is only available in select retail stores in the southeast region," a media representative from Schwan's told BringMeTheNews. "Once the pilot program is over, we hope to see Jack Nicklaus Ice Cream in retail stores nationwide."
Schwan and Nicklaus were partners before the ice cream endeavor. Schwan supports the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation, which provides families "access to world-class pediatric health care."
Business Wire notes that Nicklaus hopes to deliver some of the sales to children's charities.
