Gopher Women Advance to WCHA Semi-Finals over Buckeyes

Ohio State Buckeyes 0

Minnesota Gophers 5

The Gopher Women have swept the Buckeyes in the first round of the WCHA Final Face off tournament with back to back, high-scoring wins at Ridder Arena. The win sends the Gophers on to the semi-final round next weekend against North Dakota.

Cameranesi lights it up

Junior forward Dani Cameranesi put together a complete game, tallying a hat trick on four shot attempts with goals in the first and second period and earning an assist with a slick pass to Kate Schipper in the third. Cameranesi was a top-10 finalist for the 2016 Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award this year.

Minnesota manages the advantage

The Gophers were flawless on their only penalty kill of the night in the third period. On the other end of the power play, Cameranesi's third goal caught a shorthanded, scrambling Buckeye defense on a one-two assist sequence from sophomore Sydney Baldwin and Schipper.

Leveille tallies another shutout

Senior Goalie Amanda Leveille closed the door on the Buckeyes with a decisive 25 save shutout, holding Ohio State scoreless with a little help from junior defender Megan Wolfe (5 blocks) and Baldwin (3 blocks). Tonight's game marked the Gopher's 11th shutout of the season.
