Gopher women on the bubble after Big Ten Tournament loss

The Golden Gophers women's basketball season is now on bubble watch after getting knocked out of the Big Ten women's basketball tournament by Northwestern, 83-74 on Thursday afternoon.

The Wildcats jumped out to a 10-point lead and survived Minnesota's comeback bid. The Gophers now have to wait for NCAA Selection Show on March 14 to determine their future, which it at a fork in the road.

  1. Invitation to the NCAA Tournament
  2. Invitation to the NIT

ESPN's latest bracketology from earlier this week had Minnesota as one of the first four teams out of the tournament, so their loss to Northwestern in their first game of the conference is a bad sign.

Rachel Banham was already the Gophers' all-time leading scorer, but she padded her stats even more by surpassing 3,000 career points in the game.
