Minnesota State, Mankato defeats Gophers 5-3

The Minnesota State, Mankato Mavericks bounced back from their loss to University of Minnesota Friday and beat the Gophers 5-3 Saturday night in Western Collegiate Hockey Association action in Mankato. Mavericks freshman Dylan Margonari broke a 3-3 tie late in the third period and his team added an empty-net goal afterward to secure the victory.

Gophers fall to Denver, 5-3

In the WCHA last night the Gophers lost in Denver by a score of 5-to-3. Kyle Rau, Nate Condon and Zach Budish scored for Minnesota. Minnesota Wild prospect Jason Zucker scored for Denver, and he also drew a game misconduct penalty on Rau.

Wild beats Florida in shootout, 3-2

Kyle Brodziak and Matt Cullen scored regulation goals for the Wild, and Erik Christensen and Cullen scored in the shootout to give the Wild a 3-2 win over the Florida Panthers. Niklas Backstrom made 41 saves, including both Florida attempts in the shootout.

Gophers win tight game over Minnesota-State

Zach Budish scored the game-winning goal in the third period to lead the Gopher men's hockey team over Minnesota State-Mankato Friday night at Mariucci Arena. The two teams will meet again Saturday night in Mankato.

Michigan State upsets No. 3 Gophers, 4-3

Michigan State won the opening game of the weekend series against the Gophers 4-3 Friday night. The University of Minnesota went down 2-0 in the first period, and despite a furious rally in the third period, failed to come back and win. Nick Bjugstad scored two goals for the Gophers.
