Bjugstad injury isn't serious, expects to play at World Junior Championships

Gophers' forward Nick Bjugstad says his undisclosed injury isn't serious and he expects to play for Team USA at the World Junior Championships. Bjugstad sustained an injury December 10th at Michigan Tech. He says he is day-to-day but will play in the third exhibition game Friday and "definitely be ready" for the opening game of the World Junior Championships December 26.

Bjugstad remains day-to-day with injury

An undisclosed injury might keep Gophers' forward Nick Bjugstad out of Team U.S.A.'s exhibition finale on Friday against Slovakia. He practiced at full-speed Thursday, but U.S. head coach Dean Blais says he's unsure if Bjugstad will play. It's also possible Bjugstad doesn't play Monday in the U.S. team's World Junior Classic opener against Denmark.

Hockey Gophers enter tournament without Bjugstad, Rau

The hockey Gophers are back on the ice Friday night in the Mariucci Classic. After a 20-day layoff, they play Niagra to open the weekend tournament -- which also features Northeastern and Princeton. The Gophers will skate without stars Nick Bjugstad and Kyle Rau, who are playing for Team USA in the World Junior Championships.
