Gophers can't hold off the surging Hoosiers

Minnesota 68

Indiana 74

Despite a second-half rally, the Gopher men were unable to stop Thomas Bryant and the Hoosiers during crunch time and took their fifth straight single digit loss. Minnesota's losing streak has now made like Spinal Tap and gone to 11.

1) Breakout game for Kevin Dorsey

With the Gopher's Carlos Morris out for the evening attending a friend's funeral, freshman guard Kevin Dorsey took full advantage of the extra minutes, scoring a career high of 21 points on 10-19 shooting. The former four-star prospect also grabbed 3 offensive boards, sparking some postgame compliments from Coach Pittino.

2. Gophers' guards carry the team

Minnesota's combination of Dorsey, sophomore Nate Mason and freshman Dupree McBrayer managed 50 points, 10 assists, 5 steals and 0 turnovers, outscoring Indiana's backcourt by 32 points and allowing only 3 of 19 field goals from the Hoosiers guards. One of McBrayer's steals led to this impressive dunk in transition.

3. Three-point struggles continue-especially when it counts

Minnesota shot just 2 of 18 from behind the arc, with point guard Nate Mason going 0 for 7 on longball attempts. Both senior forward Joey King and freshman Jordan Murphy missed their chances tie the game with a three pointer during the final minutes, according to Marcus Fuller from the Pioneer Press. The Hoosiers also went 2 of 18 on three pointers though, so there's some cold comfort to be had.

Tweet of the Night:

This nifty little dish from McBrayer to center Bakary Konate helped spark a short run for the Gophers.
