Gophers into Big Ten semifinals after thriller over Iowa

The win should guarantee them a spot in the NCAA Tournament.

If there was any question about the Gophers women's basketball team being an NCAA Tournament team before Friday's Big Ten quarterfinal game against Iowa, there shouldn't be anymore.

Minnesota, the No. 4 seed in the conference tourney, defeated their border rival 90-89 in a thrilling game in Indianapolis.

The game had it all, including a ridiculous 48 points for Iowa's Megan Gustafson, the Big Ten Player of the Year.

Carlie Wagner scored 27 for Minnesota and Kenisha Bell added 26 to propel the Gophers into the Big Ten semifinals against No. 1 Ohio State on Saturday at 5 p.m.

Minnesota has won 11 of 14 games since losing by 16 points to Ohio State on Jan. 4.

The NCAA selection show isn't until March 12, but the Gophers should feel comfortable regardless of what happens against the Buckeyes.
