The Minnesota Gopher men's hockey team is heading to the Big Ten championship game after shutting out Ohio State 3-0 Friday in Detroit.
Top-seeded Minnesota was the first to put points on the board after a scoreless first period. Sam Warning scored at 07:51 into the second period with an assist from Travis Boyd, Gopher Sports reports.
In the third period, Vinni Lettieri netted the second goal of the night, with assists from Ben Marshall and Taylor Cammarata.
The Buckeyes pulled their goalie in the final minutes, and the Gophers took advantage of the move; Boyd scored the final goal of the night with under five minutes left in the game.
The Buckeyes did outshoot the Gophers. Goalie Adam Wilcox had 39 saves. The Gophers fired off 23 shots on the goal.
The Gophers will play Michigan in the championship game, which starts at 7 p.m. Saturday.
