The Minnesota Gophers hockey team enters it's last season in the WCHA tied with defending national champion Boston College as the No. 1 team in the country, according to the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine preseason poll released Monday.

Both major national college hockey polls rank the Gophers as the No. 5 team in the country. Minnesota fell from No. 3 to No. 5 in the USCHO poll, and remained the fifth ranked team in the USA Today/USA Hockey poll.

U of M men's hockey ranked No. 1

The Golden Gophers men's hockey team is rank No. 1 in the USA Today/USA Hockey poll. Their weekend sweep over SCSU pushed them back to No. 1 for the second time this season. The UMD Bulldogs are still ranked No. 1 in the USCHO poll, with the Gophers coming in at No. 2.

2012 Gophers' hockey schedule released

Next season will be the Gopher men's hockey team's last season in the WCHA, and their schedule is looking very glamorous. Minnesota plays 36 games, 20 at at Mariucci Arena. Two of the non-conference home games are against Notre Dame and defending national champion, Boston College.
