Gophers open Mariucci Classic with victory over UCONN

UCONN Huskies 2

Minnesota Gophers 3

The Minnesota Gophers opened the Mariucci Classic with a 3-2 victory over UCONN.

1. Fasching finds the big answer

The Gophers answered some adversity in the third period. Just 21 seconds after UCONN evened the score at 2 in the third period, Hudson Fasching put Minnesota right back on top, with what turned into the eventual game winner.

2. Cammarata gives Minnesota their first lead

Minnesota trailed 1-0 in the second, but a pair of goals just 23 seconds apart turned the tables on the Huskies, Taylor Cammarata netted the second one.

3. Back at .500

To say it's been a trying season so far for the Gophers would probably be an understatement, but the win helped Minnesota get back to .500. The Gophers are now 8-8-0 on the season.
