Gophers rally for 5 unanswered goals to drop Michigan State

The Spartans scored early, but the Gophers scored more often as Minnesota came from behind to beat Michigan State 5-3 Thursday night at Mariucci Arena.

Things didn't start off very well for the Gophers as Michigan State scored on three of their first four shots on goal against Gopher goaltender Nick Lehr.

Lehr was starting in place of the injured Adam Wilcox, but the Gophers weren't giving out a lot of details on his injury.

But Minnesota settled down and got things rolling, rattling off five unanswered goals to put the game away.

Sam Warning finished with a pair of goals and an assist in the Gophers victory. His goal late in the second period put the Gophers up for good. Mike Reilly and Travis Boyd each added a goal and an assist in the Gophers win.

The Gophers and Michigan State will wrap up the series on Friday night at Mariucci Arena.
