Gophers recruit 270-lb. kicker

The football Gophers have a commitment from a Florida athlete, who is 6-feet, 5-inches tall and weighs 270 pounds.

Sounds like a lineman, right?

Not exactly.

He's Ryan Santoso, a former soccer goalie, turned kicker.

According to the Star Tribune, Santoso, from Pace High School, made a verbal commitment to Minnesota late last month. National signing day is Feb. 6.

Santoso was pretty accurate in his senior season. He was 14-for-17 on field goal attempts, and 29-for-29 on extra point attempts.

He also sent 46 of 49 kickoffs into the end zone.

Big guy. Big foot, as seen in this video clip.
