Gophers shutout Mavericks to sweep weekend

The Gopher hockey team completed the sweep of Minnesota State. The Gophers beat the Mavericks 3-0 on Saturday.

Michael Shibrowski got the start in net for Minnesota and he was outstanding stopping all 25 shots he faced. His efforts allowed the Gophers to hold on to a 1-0 lead into the third period.

That's when the Gopher offense got rolling as Minnesota netted a pair of goals to push their lead to three.

Hudson Fasching and Sam Warning each had two points on the night for the Gophers. Fasching finished with a goal and an assist, while Warning had a pair of assists in the game.

Jake Bischoff got Minnesota on the scoreboard. He scored at the 6:20 mark of the first period to put the Gophers up. It stayed that way until the third when Tom Serratorre netted the Wolves second goal at the 11:06 mark in the third. It was just moments later when Fasching put the game out of reach.

The Gophers continue their home stand next Friday against Minnesota - Duluth.
