The Gophers upset third-seeded La Salle in their opening game of the NIT Wednesday, 70-61. Rodney Williams scored a game-high 21 points to go along with six rebounds. Minnesota plays Miami Monday in the second round.

University of Minnesota basketball fans are in for a treat this Thanksgiving when the Gophers men's team plays Duke in the opening round of the Battle 4 Atlantis, a holiday tournament in the Bahamas. The Gophers haven't played Duke since losing to the Blue Devils in the Sweet 16 of the 1989 NCAA Tournament.

Gophers' February fade a repeat of last year

The basketball Gophers go into Wisconsin tonight on a five game losing streak, with no real hopes of making the NCAA tournament. The same thing happened last year when Tubby Smith’s team faded badly down the stretch. As for tonight, Smith says the Badgers will be a test of “character.”
