Exodus: Gophers' Budish, Bjugstad follow Schmidt to NHL


Two more Gopher hockey standouts have signed with NHL teams.

Edina native Zach Budish has signed a development deal the Nashville Predators, according to SB Nation.

Also departing: Blaine native Nick Bjugstad, who signed an entry-level contract with the Florida Panthers.

On Tuesday, Gophers defenseman Nate Schmidt signed a two-year development deal with the Washington Capitals,

Budish, Minnesota's captain, had 36 points for the Gophers this past season. Bjugstad had 54 goals and 44 assists in three seasons with the Gophers.
