Gordon Hayward's leg snapped on a bad fall just minutes into his Celtics debut

Prayers up for the new Celtics star small forward.

Gordon Hayward's season came to a crashing halt just five minutes into the season opener – his first game as a member of the Boston Celtics.

The former Utah Jazz small forward, signed to a maximum contract by the Celtics over the summer, landed awkwardly on his left leg, snapping his leg and leaving it out of place as he lay on the floor in pain.

The Celtics and Cavaliers were opening the season for the NBA in a highly anticipated game between the top two teams in the Eastern Conference from a season ago.

NBA players immediately reacted on Twitter with prayers and positive thoughts, including Paul George, who suffered a similarly gruesome leg injury a few years ago.
