But the day belonged to hometown hero Kara Goucher, who is preparing for the London Olympics and won the half-marathon event at Grandma's in record time.

Duluth native Goucher wins Grandma's half-marathon

Kara Goucher, who will represent the U.S. in the Olympic marathon in London, finished a 13.1-mile half-marathon event Saturday in a course-record 1 hour, 9 minutes, 34 seconds. She was back in her hometown for Grandma's Marathon weekend, and was lifted along the way by her old classmates from Duluth East, former neighbors and family friends who came to see her first race in town since her high school days.
