Greg Jennings tweets 'Thank You' note to Minnesota

Greg Jennings is done playing for the Minnesota Vikings, but he's not done calling Minnesota "home."

The 31-year-old wide receiver was released by the Vikings on Saturday, a move that ESPN notes will save the team at least $5 million in salary cap space. Jennings, though, tweeted a message of thanks to the organization and fans, saying it was an "honor" to play for both.

Jennings was Minnesota's most consistent receiver in his two years in purple. He totaled 127 receptions for more than 1,500 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was cut just one day after the Vikings finalized a trade with the Dolphins for a younger, more explosive receiver in 28-year-old Mike Wallace.

It was a move that the Packers blog, via the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, says the Vikings wanted to make two years ago when they tried to get Wallace, only to be outbid by the Dolphins. Minnesota's backup plan was Jennings. Two years later they finally have the guy they wanted all along.

Wallace led Miami with 10 touchdowns last season. The Vikings haven't had a receiver finish a season with double-digit touchdowns since Randy Moss finished with 13 in 2004.
