Harrison Smith isn't one to talk a big game, but his presence on the field does more than that and the Vikings will be excited to have him back as a starting safety against the Bears on Sunday.
After missing last week's loss to Arizona with hamstring and knee injuries – and being held out of practice Tuesday – Smith was back on the practice field Wednesday. It's a sign that he could return to play this week.
Smith's available is critical for a Vikings defense that had to assemble a pair of safeties last week by signing a player from the practice squad – Anthony Harris – a moving Terence Newman from cornerback to safety.
Minnesota is also expected to have Andrew Sendejo back from a knee injury this week. If both he and Smith play the Vikings will again be working with their top two safeties.
