Minnesota Duluth dropped from first place to 11th in the Division II football coaches poll. The Bulldogs lost 7-0 over the weekend to Nebraska’s Wayne State. UMD topped the list in November of last year and stayed there with a 17-game winning streak--which ended Saturday.

Minnesota-Duluth still holds the nations top ranking in the latest Division II football coaches poll. The Bulldogs have won 17 games in a row overall and 31 straight in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.

No. 2 Gophers face Mavericks

The Gopher men's hockey team opens a two-game series Friday against Minnesota State at Mariucci Arena. Minnesota is ranked No. 2 behind Boston College. A solid series combined with any slip-up by Boston will push the Gophers to the top spot.

The Golden Gophers men's hockey team is rank No. 1 in the USA Today/USA Hockey poll. Their weekend sweep over SCSU pushed them back to No. 1 for the second time this season. The UMD Bulldogs are still ranked No. 1 in the USCHO poll, with the Gophers coming in at No. 2.

Despite being ranked No. 1 in the nation, the Golden Gophers men's hockey team isn't satisfied. Senior goaltender Kent Patterson says the team is happy with a 9-1 start, but they know the season is young and they have a long way to go.
