In position for the title; Bethel survives Tommies

Bethel remains unbeaten as they survive a battle with St. Thomas

A fourth quarter rally by Bethel allows them to remain unbeaten as they defeated St. Thomas on Saturday 28-21, in a game that now puts them in great position to win the MIAC title.

Marshall Klitzke scored on a two yard touchdown run with 4o seconds to play to put Bethel on top. They trailed 21-20 prior to Klitzke's second touchdown run of the afternoon because they had failed on a previous two-point conversion play that would have given them the lead.

Erik Peterson completed 20 of 29 passes for 262 yards and a couple of touchdowns. Earlier in the fourth Peterson connected with Brandon Marquardt to cut the Tommies lead to one, at 21-20.

The Tommies started Sophomore Alex Fenske at quarterback in place of the injured Matt O'Connell. The Tommies focused their efforts on the ground as Jack Kaiser carried the ball 32 times for 144 yards and two scores.

Bethel (6-0) will host Gustavus next Saturday. St. Thomas (4-2) hosts Hamline.

Johnnies beat Carlton to pick up another victory

The St. Johns' defense picked off Carlton quarterback Conner Lynch three times, on their way to a 23-13 road win. The Johnnies kept Lynch under pressure all afternoon finishing with four sacks in the game.

The Johnnies also ran the ball successfully against Carlton rushing for 229 yards in the game. Jakob Certeza led the way as he ran for 116 yards and Nick Martin scored a pair of touchdowns in the game for St. Johns.

Trailing 13-10 Martin survived three interceptions himself, as he connected with Rob Voshell to put them on top at the 7:08 mark in the third quarter. Martin then added a rushing touchdown moments later to extend the lead.

St. Johns (6-1) is off next week. While Carlton (3-3) travels to St. Olaf.

Cobbers correct stumbles and clobber Hamline

A balanced Cobber rushing attack allowed Concordia to control Hamline on Saturday in a 63-7 route. The Cobbers, who bounced back from their loss to Bethel last week, ran for 342 yards in the game led by Alex McLean and Domenic Fraboni, who rushed for 88 and 80 yards respectively, and a combined five touchdowns in the game.

Concordia rattled off three touchdowns in each of the first three quarters on their way to the victory.

Concordia (5-1) hosts Augsburg next week. While Hamline (2-4) travels to St. Thomas.
