An estimated 250,000 spectators will descend on Hazeltine National this week for the 2016 Ryder Cup between USA and Europe.

The 12 best golfers from each continent will go head-to-head from Friday to Sunday, but proceedings get underway Tuesday when practice starts and a celebrity golf tournament will be held at the Chaska golf course.

The Star Tribune reports that half of the tickets for the six days were purchased by fans outside of Minnesota and 15 percent were sold overseas.

The event will be broadcast to more than 500 million homes across the world. Hazeltine meanwhile has been transformed by five miles of white picket fencing, 10 miles or wire fencing and a "merchandise tent the size of a Best Buy," the newspaper notes.

On Sunday, Team USA captain Davis Love III selected his final wildcard for the tournament, announcing during half-time of Sunday Night Football that he has selected Ryan Moore, GolfWeek reports.

Just hours earlier, Moore was involved in a four-hole playoff for the Tour Championship with four-time major winner Rory McIlroy, with the Northern Irishman ultimately triumphing.

He will be hoping not to see McIlroy victorious this coming weekend as Team USA looks to banish the memories of the last Ryder Cup on American soil in Illinois, when Europe overturned a huge deficit on a final day since dubbed the "Miracle of Medinah."

Here's USA's team for the Ryder Cup:

  • Rickie Fowler
  • JB Holmes
  • Dustin Johnson
  • Zach Johnson
  • Brooks Koepka
  • Matt Kuchar
  • Phil Mickelson
  • Ryan Moore
  • Patrick Reed
  • Brandt Snedeker
  • Jordan Spieth
  • Jimmy Walker

And here's Team Europe:

  • Rafa Cabrera Bello
  • Matthew Fitzpatrick
  • Sergio Garcia
  • Martin Kaymer
  • Rory McIlroy
  • Thomas Pieters
  • Justin Rose
  • Henrik Stenson
  • Andy Sullivan
  • Lee Westwood
  • Danny Willett
  • Chris Wood
