One word to describe new Vikings offensive coordinator, John DeFilippo: Energy.

Take his quote from a recent article in Bleeding Green Nation

"I like to have a lot of juice. I like guys that move fast, talk fast, do everything fast. I think when you train that way and you practice that way, when the game’s moving fast on Sunday it slows things down for you.”

Those are his words, but what the words of his peers?

Derek Carr, Oakland Raiders QB

The Raiders quarterback learned under DeFilippo in Oakland, and raved about him when the Browns hired DeFilippo as their offensive coordinator in 2015.

"I can promise you he's going to be one of those guys in a few years who's up for a head coach job,'' said Carr in a 2015 interview with Cleveland.com. "The Browns did a very good thing by hiring John DeFilippo. He's an amazing coach and a great person.''

Peter Schrager, Good Morning Football

"That is a huge, huge loss for that team (the Eagles). DeFilippo is a genius, especially in the red zone because that's what he does."

You can watch Good Morning Football talk about DeFilippo in the video below (beginning at the 6:00 mark).

Mike Pettine, Packers defensive coordinator

Note that Pettine was the head coach in Cleveland while DeFilippo was there. Pettine believes DeFilippo is on the fast track to becoming a head coach.

"Absolutely. Absolutely. I don't think it's a question of if, it's a question of when," Pettine told NFL.com during Super Bowl week.

Pettine added: "When you spend just two minutes with him, you just realize very quickly how much he truly loves the game, and that's such a big part in the NFL. ... And with John, it was obvious. He'd start talking about something, and his eyes would light up, and he'd grab a pen and jump up on the board. You could just tell. And that mentality is contagious, and that's what you need in front of the room."

Mike Zimmer, Vikings head coach

We'll have more on DeFilippo in the coming days.
