The Vikings will be without one of the best defensive tackles in the NFL Sunday when they take on Seattle.
With Joseph out of the mix, the Vikings will do some shifting along the defensive front.
"Tom's a good player, he's a veteran guy, he's smart," Zimmer told reporters Friday. "He knows the system we are trying to run and he knows what we are trying to get accomplished. But it's always good to have multiple guys and good depth at all of the positions."
That depth could be tested Sunday as Joseph is just one of two starters that have been declared out – the other is safety Andrew Sendejo (knee). He left last week's game at Atlanta because of a knee injury and like Joseph did not practice all week.
Things don't look quite as bleak for the other two injured Vikings starters – both Harrison Smith (knee) and Anthony Barr (hand/groin) participated in Friday's practice in a limited capacity and both are listed as questionable.
