Kenny Perry repeats at 3M Championship in Blaine

Author:

Kenny Perry captured his second straight Champions Tour 3M Championship at the TPC-Twin Cities in Blaine Sunday. Perry fired a 4-under 68 Sunday to take the four-stroke victory over Bernhard Langer, Scott Dunlap and Kevin Sutherland.

Perry rocketed to the top of the leaderboard on Saturday after he fired a 61. Sunday he held onto that lead by carding six birdies and two bogeys in the final round. Perry finished 18-under for the tournament.

According to The Associated Press, Perry is the first player to successfully defend his title in the tournament's 23-year history. It's his eighth victory on the Champion's Tour.

The Star Tribune reports it was also Perry's first victory since winning in Blaine last year.

Perry bogeyed his first hole of the day but rebounded nicely with birdies on holes 2, 3, 5 and 6.

Langer, Dunlap and Sutherland all finished at 14-under.

Day 1 leader and Minnesota native Tom Lehman couldn't keep his opening day pace. He finished the third round Sunday with a 69 and came in sixth at 12-under.

Lehman, who was bothered by a bad back, didn't bogey a single hole during Sunday's final round; but he did card birdies on 3, 10 and 15.
