Kuemper solid in net again as Wild hold off Canadiens

Montreal Canadiens 1

Minnesota Wild 2

The Minnesota Wild snapped a two game losing streak with a 2-1 victory over Montreal Tuesday night at the Xcel Energy Center.

1. Kuemper still without a regulation loss in net

Wild backup goaltender Darcy Kuemper turned in another solid performance. Kuemper stopped 24-of-25 shots he faced Tuesday night. It was a continuation of the solid play he showed while Devan Dubnyk missed time with a strained groin.

Wild fans may see a little more of Kuemper. Coach Mike Yeo said last week that with a heavier schedule ahead there would be opportunities for both he and Dubnyk in net.

2. Two goals waived off

The game was probably a little closer than it needed to be. The Wild appeared to have scored two additional goals, one during the first and one during the third period. Both were reviewed but neither was allowed.

At the time it gave the Wild a 2-0 lead.
