Lindsey Vonn nearly crashes out in Switzerland

Defending World Cup champion Lindsey Vonn, a St. Paul native, placed 27th after almost crashing out during her second run in St. Moritz, Switzerland, on Sunday, the Associated Press reports. Vonn, 28, finished six seconds slower than points leader Tina Maze, who won her third straight World Cup giant slalom.

Maze now leads Germany's Hoefl-Riesch by 234 points and Vonn by 263, according to the Winnipeg Free Press.
