Lindsey Vonn responds to trolls gloating at her super-G defeat

The Minnesota native has been on the receiving end of right-wing abuse.

Minnesota native and skiing legend Lindsey Vonn has responded to online abuse she received in the wake of finishing 6th in the super-G.

Vonn, who was born in St. Paul and first started skiing on Buck Hill, has been the target of right-wing trolls after being critical of President Donald Trump in December.

Responding to an interviewer's question, she said she would "absolutely not" visit the White House should she be invited, and said she would "represent the people of the United States, not the president."

And after a late error cost her a medal in Friday's super-G, supporters of the president took the opportunity to gloat, tweeting her abuse like this.

After former Team USA soccer player-turned ESPN reporter Julie Foudy expressed her disgust at the abuse directed at America's record-breaking skier, Vonn responded by rising above the hate.

Vonn has her next chance at a medal on Wednesday, when she races in the women's downhill.
