KARE-TV Sports Director Eric Perkins says he's excited to be heading to London to report on as many local Olympics stories as possible until the event wraps up Aug. 12. KARE became the gold standard of Olympics coverage during the Bejing Games four years ago, as there were days when more people tuned into the local NBC affiliate to watch the event than anywhere else in the United States.

The London Olympics came to an end Sunday night as the closing ceremony distinguished the Olympic flame. The United States finished with 104 medals, the most overall. 46 of the medals were gold, with 29 silver and 29 bronze. The 2016 Summer Olympics will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
