Lynx beat Sparks to get back in the win column


Seimone Augustus scored a season-high 26 points to lead the Minnesota Lynx to an 85-72 victory over the Los Angeles Sparks Sunday afternoon, the Associated Press reports.

The Lynx are back in the win column at 8-1 after losing their first game of the season on Friday night.

Lindsay Whalen scored 19 points and Janel McCarville had 11, as well as six steals. Five players were in double figures, according to WNBA.com. Damiris Dantas had 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Maya Moore had 12 points and 13 rebounds.

The Sparks (3-4) were led by Candace Parker, who had 24 points and 11 rebounds.

Los Angeles didn’t make a basket in the last five minutes of the game. Minnesota had only a three-point lead, but scored 10 unanswered points to put the game away.
