It was supposed to be tough for the Minnesota Lynx to win more games this season than they did en route to the second-best regular season in WNBA history last season. But never underestimate Cheryl Reeve's rock star Lynx.
At 19-2 they're off to the best start in team history and within reach are the franchise (28) and WNBA (29) records for regular season wins. The 2014 Phoenix Mercury set the league record by going 29-5.
To break the record, Minnesota has to win at least 11 of their 13 remaining games.
Making the dream even more real is that only five of Minnesota's final 13 games are against teams with a winning record (Los Angeles Sparks twice, Washington Mystics, Phoenix Mercury and New York Liberty).
Here's a good statistical look at why the Lynx have been dominating again. Where they rank in the WNBA is in parenthesis.
- Points: 87.4 (1)
- Steals: 8.1 (3)
- Assists: 21.2 (1)
- Rebounds: 34.9 (4)
- 3-point percentage: 37.1 (2)
- Field-goal percentage: 47.9 (3)
Up next, the Lynx host the Atlanta Dream (10-13) on Thursday.
