The Minnesota Lynx (2-0) whipped the Phoenix Mercury, 99-79 Thursday night at Target Center.
It was No. 1 overall draft pick Brittney Griner's first try against the Lynx, and the 6-foot-8 phenom didn't stand a chance.
Griner, who is known for dunking in games, failed on a dunk attempt as she broke loose and clanked the basketball off the back of the rim on her only try.
The Lynx, led by Maya Moore's 22 points, led by 27 at the half and never looked back.
Seimone Augustus added 19 points and Amber Harris scored 18 off the bench to help pace a balanced attack. Lindsey Whalen had eight points and a game high 10 assists.
Minnesota proved to be super efficient. They finished with 30 assists on 36 made shots.
Griner finished with 16 points and five rebounds.
Former WNBA star Rebecca Lobo is already ranking the Lynx ahead of every team in the league.
