The Twins added pitching depth Monday by claiming a couple of pitchers off waivers. Matt Maloney, a 27-year old right-hander, split time in Triple-A and the big leagues with the Reds. Minnesota also signed 29-year old right-hander Jeff Gray off waivers from the Mariners.

Former Twins slugger Tom Brunansky is one step closer to the big leagues. He's been named the new hitting coach for the Rochester Red Wings, the Twins' Triple A affiliate. Last year, Brunansky held the same post in Double A New Britain. "Bruno" was a key member of the Twins' 1987 World Series team.

It's been over two weeks since the Twins optioned Chris Parmelee back to Triple-A Rochester, and it might not be long before he gets called back up. Parmelee is hitting .452 with 3 homers and 9 RBI in nine games. Assistant GM Rob Antony says it might be good for Parmelee to go on a bit of a run at Triple-A.

Rochester's Brown signs with Indians

Mitch Brown, the 18 year old right-hander from Rochester Century High School, was signed by the Cleveland Indians on Friday. Brown was a second-round draft pick. He finished his senior season of high school with a 7-1 record and .91 ERA.
