Minnesota State University-Mankato head football coach Todd Hoffner was "reinstated" by the school on Wednesday, a university lawyer said.
However, the Star Tribune says the university stopped short of declaring that he was now back in his role as head coach, noting only that "he remains on the University's payroll."
Also, Hoffner will serve a 20-day suspension without pay. The reason for the suspension was not publicly released but the Star Tribune reported a source said it was related to Hoffner's use of a university cell phone.
He was recently cleared of creating child pornography on his phone.
