Joe Mauer was eligible to come off the seven-day concussion disabled list before Tuesday's game against the Royals, but the Twins decided to keep Mauer on the DL for some extra recovery time.

Ron Gardenhire told the Pioneer Press that Mauer has had a couple of rough days at home.

"He's getting better," Gardenhire said. "It's just going to take time."

General manager Terry Ryan says Mauer is "not ready to do a whole lot just yet."

There is no timetable for his return.
