Minnesota State beats Augustana and could move to #1

Valdosta State (GA) lost on Thursday night, and that may have a significant impact on Minnesota State University. The Mavericks defeated Augustana today 20-10, in doing so, they likely will move up to the top spot in both NCAA Division II polls.

After trailing at half time the Mavericks got it going in the second half. Quarterback Jon Wolf threw for 187 yards and a touchdown, he also rushed for 87 yards and another score, to lead the Mavericks back to score 14 unanswered points to win the game.

Dennis Carter had 5 caches for 111 yards receiving and the Mavericks only receiving touchdown.

Jordan Hale and Patrick Schmidt intercepted passes for the Maverick defense.

MSU (6-0) travels to Southwest Minnesota State next week. Augustana (2-4) returns home to play Upper Iowa.

Winona wins fourth straight in a shootout over Sioux Falls

Winona State won their fourth straight game on Saturday as they won a shootout over Sioux Falls 45-40 on Saturday.

Chichi Ojika ran for 181 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries to lead the Warriors. Jordan Kos ran for a pair of touchdowns and Anthony Resnick ran for a fourth score.

In the game, Winona rolled up 311 yards on the ground. Freshman Jack Nelson threw for 278 yards and a touchdown. The Warriors totaled 589 yards in the game today.

In the last two weeks, the Cougars have given up over 1,400 yards and 93 points.

Winona (4-2) next week will host Wayne State. Sioux Falls (3-3) travels to Concordia.
