Mavericks hockey shuts out Ferris State in WCHA semifinals

Freshman forward Brad McClure lifted No. 2 Minnesota State men's hockey team to a 4-0 shutout win against Ferris State in the WCHA Final Five Friday in St. Paul.

McClure sunk the first goal of the night unassisted 12:24 into the game, according to the MSU Mavericks news site. At 15:18 in the second, he made it two goals with the assists from Casey Nelson and Jon Jutzi.

C.J. Franklin had a goal of his own three minutes later with a McClure and Stephon Williams assist.

The final goal of the game came unassisted from Bryce Gervais with almost two minutes left to play.

Both teams fired off 25 shots on goal.

The Mavericks play Michigan Tech Saturday for the championship title and Broadmoor Trophy.
