Mavericks remain unbeaten pummel Mustangs

Mavericks power over Southwest on their way to 7-0

Minnesota State University remained unbeaten on Saturday night as they defeated Southwest Minnesota State 52-27 in Marshall. It was the second time in three weeks the Mustangs have given up more than 50 points on their home field.

MSU controlled the game on the ground rushing for 383 yards. Conner Thomas and Jon Wolf combined to do most of the damage for the Mavericks, each were over 100 yards on the ground and they combined for five touchdowns. Thomas ran for 153 yards and three scores, while Wolf ran for 112 yards and two touchdowns.

The Maverick defense intercepted six Southwest passes on the night.

Minnesota State (7-0) hosts a big game against Winona State on Saturday. Southwest (3-4) travels to Upper Iowa University.

St. Cloud State wins tough road trip in Bismarck

As if driving to Bismarck, North Dakota by bus wasn't far enough for St. Cloud State, but the Huskies had to overcome a challenge with one of the teams buses when the glass on the side door was broken. They overcame the challenge to beat the University of Mary 20-13.

Michael Walker rushed for a pair of touchdowns, both in the first half for the Huskies. Walker led a Huskies running attack that compiled 174 yards on the ground.

Mary rallied in the fourth and created a few nervous moments when Craig Bagnell led two scoring drives for the Marauders in the final five minutes.

St. Cloud State (6-1) hosts Northern State next Saturday. Mary (4-3) travels to Minnesota State Moorhead.

USF Rolls Concordia

The University of Sioux Falls used that explosive offense to put up 34 points in the first half on their way to a 47-7 win over Concordia St. Paul on Saturday.

The Cougars exploded for 625 yards of offense against what had been a stout Concordia defense.

Carrington Hanna returned to play quarterback for the Cougars on Saturday with an injury that kept Luke Papilion out of the game. Hanna responded, throwing for 407 yards and four touchdowns. He had spent the better part of the last year and a half as a receiver for the Cougars. Hanna hit Erick Albeck twice for touchdowns from 10 and 64 yards.

Ronald Zollicofer ran for 119 yards and a touchdown in the loss for Concordia.

Sioux Falls (4-3) hosts cross town rival Augustana on Saturday. Concordia (3-4) is at Wayne State.
